Ladakh， India was chosen as the site to hold the 2010 Buddhist-Muslim Dialogue. Speakers in this Ladakh Buddhist-Muslim Dialogue Conference include religious leaders， scholars， and social activists from both traditions. Under the rubric of Love and Peace， every attendee sought to propose substantial and effective “agenda for peace” from his or her own field of interest or expertise.

I was fortunate to sit with Sheikh Abdul Aziz Bukhari in the same panel on the theme of Conflict Resolution in the World Parliament of Religions held in Melbourne, Australia, in December 2009. It is there that I learned of the work of the Jerusalem Peacemakers, of which he was a prominent member. I was deeply moved and inspired by his account of his work in peacemaking among Jewish, Christian and Muslim groups in the Holy Land. I felt like having met a true friend and brother who deeply cared about our fellow human beings who has earnestly devoted his entire life to bringing peace upon this earth. After the panel I invited him to join us in the Buddhist-Muslim dialogue conference to be held in Ladakh, to which he had graciously consented. I had been looking forward to meeting him there again, to continue our joint efforts toward peace among peoples in situations of conflict. It causes me deep pain and sorrow to learn of his passing. Now Sheikh Bukhari has reentered the world of the Boundless and Unborn. The seeds planted in his life-time of good deeds and loving care for others will continue to bear fruit to benefit all of humanity in years to come. Our prayers and deepest sympathies go to his family and loved ones and all of those he touched during the precious time of life on Earth. May he continue to be a lasting inspiration and source of strength of all of us. May all beings be blessed. May all beings be happy.
